HAITI 2012 MISSION TRIP

Trip Report

On August 11th, August 18th, 2012, several members of the Zoya Ministries staff, volunteers and family made a trip to Haiti. The purpose of this trip was two-fold: To preach the gospel and show God’s compassion to the Haitian people.

While we were there we were able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the villagers who came to the clinic, to pray with and for hundreds of people, and to provide medical care to the people of Monnonville.

Beyond the numbers like the 901 patients seen is the even more important number of the dozens of people whom repented from sin and turn to God in faith. What a joy to know that through the sacrifices that each team members made that God has changed eternity for so many people and possibly generations of people.

The clinic we conducted was part of the ongoing medical care provided in Haiti by Mission of Hope Haiti in Titanyen. We set up and operated a mobile medical clinic for 4 days in temporary structures made of 2010 Earthquake relief tents.

Testimonies from team members – Folu Peters & Dr. David Abebefe

This past August I had another opportunity to go on my second mission trip to Haiti with Zoya Ministries.

We partnered with Mission of Hope in Haiti. Their vision of Indigenous mobilization and Life transformation for the Locals with a view to develop a self sufficient Haiti, really blessed me.  The worship session at the church (in Haitian Creole), led by Haitians was phenomenal as it depicted what heaven would look like with people from different cultures and countries worshipping God in unity. It was powerful !!! “Because the foolish of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1.Cor 1:25

We sought to be a blessing to the people of Monnonville through the Medical clinic and sharing the gospel. But I was truly blessed as, every day, God used the interpreters and local pastors to encourage us and pray for us. The local pastor (Oswald) would have us gather together every morning before we start the clinic and would pray for us, share the gospel, and give a word of encouragement which was always relevant.

I would never forget the faith, hope and Joy that the people of Haiti displayed in spite of their circumstances.

Thank You, Folu Peters.

The Trip to Haiti was a wonderful experience for me as this was my second time in Haiti. The last time we visited Haiti was before the earthquake, it was very sad to see the leftovers from the earthquake devastation. The Haitian people have been through so much but God’s love for them has never changed.

We were blessed to have wonderful interpreters with us especially ‘pretty boy’ who entertained and blessed us in so many ways. The drive to the clinic was very interesting as we passed the villagers on donkeys and some walking. We provided medical care for both old and the young and it was a joy to see the smiles on the faces of the Haiti people again.

I will never forget the people in Haiti as they ministered to us in so many ways when we thought we were the ones coming to minister to them. They remind me that wherever you are, God never forgets us and He will send anyone to the farthest part of the universe to remind us that He will never leave nor forsake us.

I am looking forward to going back to Haiti as so much work still need to be done. Until the whole world hears!
